FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME
Physical and cognitive abnormalities in child caused by a pregnant women's heavy drinking. In severe cases, symptoms include noticeable facial misproportions (Meyers 17).
When a mother is drinking excessively and heavily, her baby's health is in danger. The damage in the fetus will leave chemical marks in the baby to possibly come out abnormal. Furthermore, it affects the fetal brain and her baby is at risk with birth defects, future problems, lower intelligence, and behavioral problems.
Most likely, her baby will be abnormal because the baby's organs will develop strong, healthy or normal. Unfortunately, these symptoms cannot be cured for the baby. Doctors can tell when a baby has this syndrome because they develop these health issues before the age of 6. They develop different facial structures, head size, less attention, and the weight of the baby.
As babies continue to develop, you have to take care of the child carefully by watching to see if any other symptoms occur. For your baby's safety and health and to prevent your baby from having fetal alcohol syndrome, it is safe to say that you should not do any type of drug while pregnant.
Not only will the child be impacted of the problems caused by alcohol but so will others such as family, parents, or even the children's school teachers. For example, a teacher may be impacted by the Fetal Alcohol syndrome by having to go at a slower paste for the kids, teachers still sometimes have trouble learning the difficulties of the children which is like a puzzle for them. Furthermore, patience, consistency and support is what the teachers must give in order to be impacted by the children. Likewise, with a mother or father of the children except you have to show a different kind of attention. They need more love and support.
However, parents are impacted by this syndrome because they might feel guilt or anger. This is difficult on the parents as well because of maybe the medical bills or medications as well.
Overall, these syndromes are really sad to see kids go through, although we do not know the mothers life; it is a sad subject to think of or to face the fact of. However, through the DNA's of the mother and the alcohol, you will see changes in the baby that are abnormal.
